The Beaver Island Cemetery is directly opposite of the Episcopal Church at the top of the hill from Gillespie's. This is the oldest cemetery on the island and is under the auspice of St. James Township. Note: a parcel of land here is probably the least expensive to be had on the island and the neighbors are extremely quiet.
Thanks go to Jeanne Howell for this photographStraight across from the St. James Cemetery is the St. James Episcopal Mission. Started July 25th of 1954 by Bishop Dudley McNeil, this small mission church meets year 'round although most Sunday's in the winter are prayer services and may consist of only 7 or 8 in the congregation. Once a month during the winter, a visiting Episcopal priest flies to the island. |
